Bridge City Ballroom Dance

Dancing is about more than steps, it’s about connection and community.

CASE STUDY

Bridge City Ballroom Dance is an independent dance company who specializes in lessons and dance events in the area of Portland OR, and Vancouver WA. BCBallroom wanted to expand their audience from hear-say and business cards to the web along with having a calendar for upcoming dances and lessons.

ROLE

UI/UX Design
WordPress/Code

“Trusting Rory to take control of the website design for my business was one of the best decisions I have ever made.”

SOLUTION

We knew that the main focus was going to be emphasized on the events calendar. I designed the experience so it would be easy to use for all ages including seniors to teenagers, along with it being mobile first. My work included design and development of the website, along with photography for the site.

WEB DESIGN

The site has been designed to reach two goals: promote dance lessons, and easily share where dance events are held. The front page features relevant information to accommodate both the returning dancer and the new visitor. The backend was designed with WordPress and ACF to easily post about upcoming events, different dance venues, lesson types, and testimonials.

STYLE GUIDE

The style of the site has been designed in a very clean, elegant, but sophisticated manner. The black and white and colors keep the site easy to scan, and a dash of deep red keeps the site sexy for the dance floor. For contrast, a minimal sans serif typeface was used for legibility, while a serif typeface moves the site rhythmically.

“Not only was he extremely professional and a joy to work with, but Rory went above and beyond, researching my industry in depth and designing a clean, easy to navigate site that really stands out. Compliments about the website keep coming in from current and new customers, so Rory’s design has definitely made a difference!”
